Tech|3D Mobile WITHOUT Glasses

Not sure if you guys were aware of the 3D mobile phone Samsung released in South Korea a few years back [the B710], but it allowed for 2D content to be converted into 3D with the use of those ridiculous looking/feeling glasses. But they also released another version in March [the W960] which is absolutely incredible. Both devices use the technology of Julien Flack, CTO of Dynamic Digital Depth.
Flack’s software synthesizes 3-D scenes from existing 2-D video by estimating the depth of objects using various cues; a band of sky at the top of a frame probably belongs in the far background, for example. It then creates pairs of slightly different images that the viewer’s brain combines to produce the sensation of depth.
It’s predicted that by 2018 over 71 million devices such as this sold worldwide.
